Policies and Requirements

First Visit

The first visit is by appointment only. We bring only one new dog per day. The dog will spend the day with us, so he/she will have time to get acquainted with us, the place and the rest of the pack. If the dog presents any issue we work with it. If the dog is aggressive beyond control, we isolate the dog and call the parents to come and take him/her home.

For the first visit the dog needs to be dropped off between 7:15 and 8:00am, when the place is still relatively quiet and it will not fright the new dog. Even for dogs used to other daycare and/or dog park, it might feel overwhelming with new smells and new surrounding. The new dog will be introduced slowly to the pack, and he/she will determine the pace of the introduction. At first the new dog stays with the smaller and calmer dogs. Large and very active dogs will be transferred to the “big room”, once they show they are prepared for it. The pick up time on the first day is after 4:00pm.

Shots Required

A puppy needs to be old enough to have the necessary vaccination. Normally at four months old the puppy already has the main shots done, only needing the re spective boosters. The rabies shot is required by law starting at that age.

Puppies and adult dogs: •

  • Rabies (good for one or five years) •

  • DHLPP (Distemper-Hepatitis-Leptospirosis-Parainfluenza-Parvovirus) or equivalent •

  • Bordetella (kennel cough) or equivalent •

  • Fecal Test (negative for worms) - test can not be older than one year

Parents will be fined ($300) by the Dog Law Enforcement, if their dogs records are not present when the officer comes for the surprise inspection. Copy of the records must to be brought with the dog on the first visit or emailed to pawsatplaypa@gmail.com, prior to that. A copy of the records must be provid ed every time the shots are updated, specially the rabies.

Moving Forward

Once everything goes well on the first visit, the dog can come to daycare at the parents convenience, no appointment necessary. There are no imposed number of visits. The drop off then changes to between 7:00 and 10:00am, with pick up again at the parents convenience. However, pick ups before 3:00pm will have to be notified at the drop off time. For the parents benefit, there are visit packages available for purchase. For quanti ty and prices, please check the “Rates” page.

Half Days

Parents are asked to respect the drop off time (7:00 to 10:00). If there is need for daycare only for the afternoon, the parents need to call or (preferably) text (number will be provided after first visit) with the time of the dog’s arrival. Half days are of up to five hours ($25). There is no visits package for half days. The best drop off time for half days is the morning, when they are all rested and eager to play. If a dog is dropped off, even if in the early afternoon, he/she is going to f ind the rest of the pack already tired and sometimes refusing to play. If the new comer is a puppy or an active adult, there is a potential for fights.
