Vaccination

All dogs must present proof of updated vaccination at the trial day.

The shots required are: Rabies; Distemper (DHLPP) or equivalent; and Bordatella (kennel cough vaccine).

We also require a proof that the dog is tested for worms at least once a year (fecal exam).

Age

Any puppy old enough to have all vaccines and boosters is old enough to attend the daycare.

Spaying & Neutering

Male dogs must be neutered after six months of age, there will be no exceptions.

Female dogs must be spayed after six months of age, there will be no exceptions. In the case of the female going in heat before spaying, she will have to be away from Paws@Play for one month starting from the day the parents notice her condition. Paws@Play will not be responsible for any “accidental pregnancy”.

Trial

¨ All dogs must go through a trial.

¨ Trials are by appointment only and the drop off is between 7 to 9:30am with pick up from 4 to 7pm.

¨ The trial consists of the observation of the dog throughout the day. In the case of the dog being aggressive the parents will be called and the dog will be isolated until the parents come to pick him/her up.

¨ The trial fee will apply regardless of its result and independent on how many hours the dog spent with us.

¨ Only one new dog is tried out per day. In the case of a family with multiple dogs, Paws@Play will try all the dogs on the same day if this is more convenient to their family.

¨ We encourage the parents to call us during the trial day if they desire to do so. We totally understand the anxiety some parents go through that day.

¨ After the trial no appointments will be necessary, you bring your dog at your convenience.

Don’t Get me Wrong

I love bully breeds! I think they are just gorgeous! They have great personalities and they can be as cuddly as teddy bears but they proved to me over the years (about 15 now) that they cannot be trusted with other dogs. It doesn’t matter how they are raised, it is in their genes.

Border Collies, for example, will herd other dogs, cats, kids... They were born with the “herding gene” and they do not need to be trained  to do so, it comes naturally.

The same way a bully breed is born with the “fighting gene” so if instigated by another dog he will fight and considering his physical strength he will cause a lot of damage.

All that said: I am very sorry but no bully breeds or their mixes will be admitted.
