On the weekend of Jan 8, 9 and 10, Paws@Play and Spay and Save, Inc joined forces to rescue eight dogs and one cat from the death row in a high kill shelter.

The shelter, nothing more than a roof over some chain link fence runs with concrete floors, couldn’t provide much comfort for those emaciated dogs in that freezing windy morning.

With  wet blankets over a floor not cleaned for at least couple of days, the dogs were stepping on their own feces, waiting anxiously for some human contact and somebody that would be kind enough to look at them with their hearts rather than with theirs eyes because they didn’t look more than a pitiful pile of bones and dirty stinky fur.

Our wish was to be able to load our cars with all of them and give them what they were striped of: comfort, food, love, dignity... But with heavy hearts we had to leave many of them behind with the hope that somebody else would come through for them.

Free of that life and now thriving in foster care the lucky pets we brought are waiting for their forever home.
